China's first self-developed new superconducting cable with transmission capacity five times that of conventional cables of the same grade was put into use in Shenzhen on the 28th. It is also the world's first superconducting cable applied in the central area of super large cities, marking that China has fully mastered the key core technology of the design, manufacture and construction of new superconducting cables.
The new superconducting cable is only 17.5cm in diameter, 400m long and has a transmission capacity of 43 MVA, which is equivalent to meeting the power demand of four trains of high-speed railway with a speed of 350 km / h at the same time, realizing the transmission capacity of 5 times that of conventional cables, and bringing high reliability power supply to Shenzhen Ping An financial center, the tallest building in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
As a major science and technology project of China Southern Power Grid Corporation, the project not only realizes 100% localization of key equipment, but also provides a new scheme for solving the problem of power supply in high load density areas of super large cities in the world.
High temperature superconducting transmission technology is known as the next generation of power transmission strategic technology. It has the advantages of low line loss, large transmission capacity, small corridor area, environmental friendliness and so on. This technology gives full play to the conductive characteristics of superconducting materials, so that the loss of power in the process of low-voltage transmission is almost zero. The transmission capacity of superconducting cable is much larger than that of conventional cable. The power transmission capacity of a 10KV three-phase coaxial HTS AC cable is larger than that of a conventional 110kV cable, but the transmission loss is only 1 / 4 to 1 / 5 of that of conventional cable, which is very suitable for power supply in high load density areas
